Children and Youth

Children are an integral part of the Church.  We don’t agree with people who say that our “children are the church of tomorrow”; they are part of the church today.  Therefore you won’t be frowned upon if your child makes a noise or goes for a wander around while the service is taking place.       Our Pastor, Simon, has children of his own, so isn’t phased by any distractions.

Like many churches, we face major challenges in the number of children and youth who come to our Church, but we are putting in place systems and plans for growth.  We aim to incorporate our children into the  morning service, with lively child friendly worship (rattles, drums and shakers are always available) and all age talks, before they move into Young Church for their own teaching programme.

Youth

Young Church

Age related groups are run for children aged from 0 to 13 years old. They all have age appropriate teaching, involving bible stories, crafts, games and memory verses.

  • Crèche –  this is located in a room with a large picture window looking into the church.  The sound system feeds the worship into this room, so that even if your child won’t stay with our crèche team, you don’t have to miss out on what is happening.

  • Bubbles – meet in the main hall for those aged 3 to 6 years.

  • Splash – meets in the other half of the hall, for those aged 7 to 9 years.

  • Top Group – meets in the upper lounge, above the entrance for those aged 10 to 13 years.

All Age Worship

On around four Sundays a year, all the groups meet together in the hall for Sunday All-age Worship, when we spend time learning, worshipping and being creative together.

Youth Group

In recent months, we've had a fun weekend participating in Slum Survivor, where we were challenged to build a shelter, live in it and survive on a small amount of rice and lentils, to help identify with the last, the least and the lost around the world.

We also take a group every year to the Soul Survivor event, where we enjoy the worship, the teaching and the fun of camping for five days in the English weather.
